A Grade 3 waterproofing system provides the highest level of protection within the BS 8102 classification, creating a fully dry environment suitable for habitable spaces such as basements, living areas, offices, and storage areas where a controlled internal environment is required.
This project involved listed vernacular structures within a sensitive heritage landscape, meaning all subterranean and lower-level works had to be carefully planned and completed in accordance with strict conservation requirements.
The challenge was to deliver a high-performance waterproofing solution while respecting the sensitive heritage environment.
To achieve the required Grade 3 waterproofing standard, Rascor Waterproofing UK & Ireland delivered a complete solution incorporating two complementary waterproofing systems:
🔹 Type A Waterproofing: Pre-Applied Membrane & Radon Barrier
A high-performance waterproofing membrane was installed to create a continuous external barrier, protecting the structure against water ingress. The system also incorporates Radon protection, helping to prevent the movement of ground gases into the building.
🔹 Type B Waterproofing: RASCOtank Injection System
The structural concrete was protected using the RASCOR Type B system. Through specialist injection technology, the RASCOtank system creates a permanent waterproof barrier within the concrete structure, sealing potential water pathways and enhancing the long-term durability of the basement.
