Water and moisture can cause damage to buildings and structures. Accordingly, facilities that are constructed without or with only inadequate waterproofing provision may require remedial works during the operation phase. Typical factors that necessitate remedial waterproofing – apart from weak points such as construction and movement joints, penetrations, cracks and substandard concrete – often include risks to structural stability (e.g. through corrosion).
The technique of remedial injection is very simple. The holes are drilled from both sides of the joint and always with an angle of 45° degrees. This ensures to hit the Joint with drilling in the middle of the structure (shown on the graphic). The waterproofing solution is then to fill the joint with an injection material.
During injection the existing water will be incorporated in the polymerisation procedure. If more water comes the resin will expand and build up pressure.
RASCOflex Acrylic Resin gel has a soft but compact gel structure. No bonding to the concrete will happen. The waterproofing process is only due to volume increase.
